ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BECOMING A DOCENT VOLUNTEER AT THE SAS NATURE CENTER?
Docents meet and greet visitors from around Florida, the US, and many foreign countries during our daily volunteer shifts from 9:00 AM to noon, October 1 to May 31. During our busiest months from mid-January through mid-April, we have afternoon shifts on Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 3 PM. We answer questions, provide information handouts, and process gift shop sales. Docents work in teams of two and are provided with tee shirts and name badges. Training is provided alongside experienced docents.
We welcome new volunteers to help us cover our daily shifts. See opportunity listing for more details or contact Sue Herring (email).
ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BECOMING A SAS BIRD NATURALIST ON THE BOARDWALK AT THE CELERY FIELDS?
Over 50 Sarasota Audubon Society volunteers have been trained to be Bird Naturalists and ‘staff’ the two boardwalks every morning from 8:30AM – 10:30AM, October 1 through May 31. Bird Naturalists greet visitors and assist in bird, animal and plant identification. All Bird Naturalists are trained alongside experienced volunteers. More volunteers are needed to ensure we can cover both boardwalks throughout our season. If you would like to join the fun and become a Celery Field Bird Naturalist please contact Kim Sullivan (email).
